I found this in my notes the other day. We had our small group over one evening and went through this God card together! I just wanted to share it with you to get your wheels spinning on how to create a small group activity for any of the God cards. This is just one example. You can modify all you want. And if the only thing you do is read the verses, draw pictures, share those pictures and pray together, I believe you will have a rich time!!!!!! More small group ideas to come!
5:45-6:15
Everyone
1. Read the God card #3 statement and verses. With construction paper and markers/crayons, everyone create a picture from 1 of these verses – Psalm 100:3, 1 Corinthians 12:18-20, Psalm 139 or Ephesians 2:8-9.
6:20-7:00
Dinner
7:00-7:30
(Young People together in backyard or somewhere with oldest “young person” leading. If no one could pull this off, have one of the adults volunteer to lead them. Be prepared to present back to the adult group your findings.)
2. Write out the word ARTIST using your bodies as the letters. Be creative and take a picture to share on someone’s phone. Everyone except the person taking the picture must be included.
3. Split into 2 teams and play volleyball or any game for 5 minutes.
4. Now, tie 2 people’s hands and blindfold 2 other people from each team and play 5 more minutes.
5. Sit down on the deck and explain the difference between each game. Which was easier? Which harder? Why?
Choose a spokesperson to share what you discovered.
Name of spokesperson is:____________________
6. Read together 1 Corinthians 12:12-28 and create 1-2 sentence that tells what these verses mean. How does these verses relate to your volleyball game?
Choose a different spokesperson to share what you discovered.
Name of spokesperson is:____________________
(Older People meeting in living room talking through any of these questions below while young people doing their own thing with the activities above.)
2. Read 1 Corinthians 12:12-28 and discuss. Note vs. 13:1 to explain how.
3. Define Spiritual Gifts and purpose of them.
4. If I had unlimited resources, what would I do? How can I do that in some measure now?
5. How has God uniquely designed you? (SHAPE is an excellent resource from Saddleback ministries that could help your group discover these answers.)
6. Perhaps share how you see each other. Many times we need others to help us see our unique design.
7:30-8:00
7. Get back together as one whole group. First, present pictures from earlier in the evening. Have any adult or child share the picture they drew from the verses read together at the beginning of the night. Second, have the younger people share their photo shot and observations from the game and verses.
8:00-8:30
8. Prayer Time
