“I am a New Parent – what do I do now?”

It has been so great to hear from those of you just starting out on this parenting journey. Your passion to raise your champions is strong. I celebrate each of you! It was just yesterday for Ron and I to be young parents of babies! Maya and Ada were born in 2002; Carson was born in 2003. I speak in plural as we have no memories of just one little person in our home. So, crazy and chaos are terms I know well! But even then, in my crazy and chaos, I, like you, felt the weight of raising my champions and giving them my very best. So what can you do now? In the midst of diapers and bottles, how can you begin to share this “life to the full” with the little people...

“The Kitchen Table” (talk, sing and post)

I just made a list in my journal of the things I would love to accomplish today. There are too many and not enough time – I find this is the story of my life, but I greet the “undone” better than ever and just look to prioritize and choose well! So, I choose “The Kitchen Table.” I have words brewing in my heart and mind on the topic, and I must make sense of them through this medium of words. I often say that our kitchen table is the most important piece of furniture in our home, and once again, I celebrate this truth. Dinner last night and breakfast this morning were nothing short of miraculous, and I take a step from the crazy and mark the truth of the...

“Run After Her!”

“So he got up and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.” Luke 15:20 I love the stories in Luke 15 – stories of Father God’s love. In the Lost Sheep, he won’t stop until he finds each one of us. However broken or weak we might be, he deems us important enough to find. In the Lost Coin, I also see a crazy love. He will look under every cushion to find us. No matter that he already has 9 coins, the search for the lost one is worth it. And then there is the story of the Prodigal Son. A son comes to his father and tells him that he has decided to leave;...

“Roll Down the Windows and Sing!”

I was talking on the phone to a friend of mine the other day. She is recently walking through some difficult days, days that demand more strength than she has. Days that have been filled with tears, accusation, hurt, betrayal, sickness, and pain. Her details have fallen apart, and she is beginning again in more ways than she wants to count. With this, she has met Father God again, and they have been having some rich conversations. I wanted to share her words with you. “Karla, I lived a life of justification and rationalization. The standard I held for myself was low, and I made too many allowances – for my husband, my job, my children, etc. I had money, stability...

“In This Mess, I Will Remember!”

Posted by on Nov 24, 2012 in A Story, Blog | 0 comments

The Christmas boxes are outside on our deck just waiting to overtake our home! Not sure how I feel about all of that! So here is the conversation Father and I had this morning! “Father, the girls are so excited about decorating for Christmas. I am staring at all those boxes out on the back deck that have been cooped up in our garage all year. They are dirty and dusty, and there are so many of them. I don’t want all of that mess in our house. I can’t keep up with the mess already going on in our house. How do I cope with what is about to happen? And I am supposed to like all of this – enjoy it! I can’t believe we have already had 10 Christmases as a family! 10!...

“COME ON!”

Maya felt like crafting and went to her room. She came back with this drawing. My favorite part – God and Maya are holding hands and he is saying to her: “COME ON!” And check out the way she makes it to Father – by the cross bridging the gap! I just love this picture – truly a miracle moment today! Praying for their absolute crazy great adventure together! He invites me too! And you too! So, “Come On!” Let’s all go!...
