my prayer for today written in my journal: “I am grateful that you are my line leader, and I submit to your leadership. I am grateful that you are a creator, and I submit to your brush. I am grateful that you have eyes to see beyond my circumstances, and I submit to your vision. I am grateful that you weave and move and create opportunities that I would never envision, and I submit to your dreams. Father, help us move forward with The Peach. You desire to equip and encourage families and when we join you, we receive such joy.”
Read MoreFather gave me this phrase in 2011. Not sure why or when. I just know that I began saying it over and over to myself in those moments that I needed it. “Begin again” is his whisper to me, his reminder of grace new every day, every hour, every minute. And so as I was thinking how to start this new year of study and exploration with my family, this phrase came to mind – “begin again.” We begin the next chapter of a new year in November with the beginning of Advent. Many people start thinking of the new year beginning in January with the turn of the year. But, the liturgical Christian calendar that has been kept for years and years begins with...
Read MoreSing with me: “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!” With that in mind, I was thinking about this season of giving and some ideas came to mind for you. Christmas is a time for celebration, lifting up the greatest gift ever given to us – Jesus! Father God broke through the boundaries of heaven and earth and sent his son to walk with us, talk with us, eat with us and ultimately die for us. He was the end to law and a bridge to life. Jesus Christ carried us back to the arms of Father God and gave us the gift of coming home safe in the embrace of our Lord and Creator as it was intended from the beginning of time (Ephesians 2:4-7). Because of this, we...
Read MoreMy home is a mess! Three days of handy men traipsing in and through my house has left it in one crazy state! We had new windows put in the kids’ rooms. They also re-caulked (is that a word?!) the bathtub, replaced the kitchen faucet, painted the hallway and Carson’s entire room for that matter, fixed the door frame that had been broken in a “time out gone bad” (that is a story for another time!!) and a few other things that now I have already forgotten. The invoice coming will be sure to remind me. Needless to say, I want nothing more than to get at my house with my handy swiffer, new vacuum and Clorox wipes. Ron even so beautifully volunteered to take the kids...
Read MoreI am feeling mirky today. I find it difficult to see the big picture, trapped in the mindless endeavors of dirty dishes and constant clutter, the objections to my great ideas by the little people in our house and the quiet of mind without full-time work responsibilities beyond this home. Why can’t I have one day without a load of laundry? How about a grateful, eager response when I ask to bring your dishes to the counter? And where is my important meeting to clinch the next deal? Sigh. And so the cloudiness ensues. But not too far behind is the lightning strikes of condemnation. “How could YOU be so ungrateful? It is probably just another day of not exercising...
Read MoreI feel so strongly about this endeavor, the God cards that is. It is just crucial that we flood our children with the person of God. If in fact we believe in him and if we feel as though we have need, then we are desperate for ways to know him and to invite our kids to his story, one that we have been reading and experiencing already. And something I have experienced as well – these truths about Father God sustain me, strengthen me and catapult me into peaceful places of rest and resilience. And I need a whole bunch of that! There has been many a day when my circumstances overwhelm me, and I will remember – Father God runs to me, answers me, knows my name...
