“What Really Happened at the Hagan House!” (God card #4 – Blanket/Mr. Bear)
We are focusing on God card #4 this week – God is our Blanket/Mr. Bear. I believe God comforts me. For our children, blankets were very important when they were young. Nap time would not happen unless the blanket was present! For Carson, his Mr. Bears were also very important. He actually has 2 Mr. Bears. They were were given to Maya and Ada as a baby gift, and they never took to them. When Carson was a baby, I put them in his crib more for decoration than anything else. After the 3rd “get-up” and last “tuck in” last night, I was reaching deep into my bag of tricks to find the thing that would comfort Maya’s crying eyes. Ron had left for Louisiana yesterday afternoon, and Maya was overcome with sadness and fear. “I just miss Daddy. I don’t feel comfortable when he is gone. Aren’t you scared all by yourself, Mommy? One of the brilliant things that has begun happening with our God card conversations is the kids have started leading our conversations. On this day, Ada chose the God card and worked out what we were going to do! You can see her plan in the picture above. It was a rich time! I also hope for your family that it is yet another reminder of the simplicity of the God cards but the depth of the conversation.
