Quarantine Day ?!?! – Sharing My Crazy with You

In these days of house arrest and forced “homeschooling,” I have been thinking alot about you “young mama’s.” Your days are not easy when all is as planned and there is freedom to leave the confines of your four walls, so I know that these past few weeks and certainly the weeks to come are not and will not be easy. Do I hear an AMEN! So, I wanted to share some of my crazy with you! One of my favorite writers is Tillie Olsen, and she has a great line in her short story, “I Stand Here Ironing” that says: “We are just peaceful wrecks holding hands with other peaceful wrecks.” That is me and you. We all have our dose of...

“big ole fits and eyes to see!”

Posted by on May 11, 2016 in A Community, A Story | 0 comments

just found this in my journal stash . . . a great word for me this morning and maybe for you! a day in the life on October 10, 2012~ Throwing the laundry in the washing machine with a bit more force this morning. . . Watching Ron walk out the door to “ensure pension safety” in the investment community with truth and tactics. Wishing my moment involved more than dirty clothes and if the girls want the knit sheets back on their beds???? That is my question and thus the quest for my moment. Father, give me eyes to see the extravagant in dirty clothes, beds that need changing and this home being my workplace for today. Next moment – Maya (age 10) walks into the...

“The Pursuit Is As Good As The Gift!”

“The Pursuit Is As Good As The Gift!”

A few months ago I brought Maya and Ada with me to Carson’s baseball coaching session with Russell. Russell is a God-appointed friend and gifted baseball coach; oh yeah, and Executive Director of Kids Beach Club. Russell connects with young people, and it only takes 30 to 40 minutes for Russell to get below the surface with Carson. You see, baseball is a tenuous sport requiring precision, practice, and perseverance. Along the way, a player needs to learn how to overcome failure and remember who he is…his identity. For us, it’s not self talk or self help; it’s a discipline to remember that our strength comes from God and that he is crazy about...

“A Weapon and a Prayer”

“A Weapon and a Prayer”

Does this look like a weapon to you? It was this morning, believe it or not? I had just left the girls’ room after giving them their 3 “to-do’s” – brush your hair, make your bed and put away your laundry! It was not a few seconds later that I heard screams and the pitter patter of one of these “girl people” in my home! Tears, offense and the story of being whacked upside the head by the “weapon” pictured left! It was a terrible moment for the victim – I mean real tears. So, of course, the attacker quickly followed the victim with a story of her own. “She was ignoring me. I asked her a question, and she...

“What Really Happened at the Hagan House” (God card #14 – Floaties)

We are plunging in to God card #14 – floaties this week. I believe God holds me up. I am not sure if you call them floaties in your house, so here are a few pics to show you what I am talking about! I told Maya, Ada and Carson to go find a picture of themselves with floaties. These are the pics they found. As we were finishing breakfast, Ron asked them to explain “floaties.” What do they do? Why did you use them? And do you have any stories about them or a time you felt like you were sinking? At this point, we are just talking literally and getting used to the idea of having something that would hold us up. Ron and I shared the stories of their...
