“Love Matters”

Posted by on Jan 11, 2008 in A Story, Blog | 0 comments

God told them, “I’ve never quit loving you and never will. Expect love, love, and more love!” Jeremiah 31:3 in The Message If the truths of God’s word, the Bible, are true for you just as they were for his chosen people, the Israelites, which they are, then this message of love is sent to you as well. So, read it again and again and again. Father God, the creator of heaven and earth and everything in between, loves you. So what? I suppose that is a question worthy of your thought. For me, I have decided that love matters. Love matters in my marriage. Love matters with my friends. Love matters in my family. Love matters in my relationships at work and school....

“The Story in the Hands”

“Though I stumble, I will not fall, for the Lord holds me by the hand.” Psalm 37:24 I have so many things that I want to share with you! I have a great picture of motherhood from a dear friend of mine who just recently celebrated her mother’s journey to heaven. I also really want to tell you about my journey in the world of health and nutrition. I have never felt better and been so empowered to give my family the very best! Then there is Isaiah 38 and the conversation Father God and I are having about prayer over my children. BUT, when we were talking about all of this last night, he gave me a picture instead. It is a picture that gives me definition and captures...

“The Ripped Page In My Bible”

Posted by on Jan 11, 2007 in A Story, Blog | 0 comments

Have you ever felt ripped – ripped off, ripped out, ripped apart, ripped up? There have been some days when I am feeling pretty “ripped” even before the schedule gets going. The thoughts in my head have already consumed me. The details of the day seem daunting to say the least. I just begin the day “undone.” There is even the thought, “Maybe if I put the covers over my head and lie real still, they will think I am gone.” During one of these “undone” days, I ended up having an incredible conversation with Father God on this very topic. I had just finished breakfast and realized that I had a few moments before I needed to get going. I had the idea of...

“Locker #4 and the Master Key!”

This past weekend I had one too many “firsts!” I had my first “embarrassing throw-up” moment and my first “Jessica McClure” moment (you remember the little girl trapped in the well?!?). Anyways, we were at a birthday party at the YMCA indoor pool, and all of the sudden, Maya runs from the pool with mouth covered. And, yes, she says the words – “Mommy, I think I am going to throw up.” Instantly, my Mom alertness and agility kicks in, and we make record time to the bathroom or at least we made it to the bathroom door. So, there we were, Maya and I, right in the middle of the party, right in the middle of the entry from the indoor pool to the bathroom,...

Somewhere in Between – Crazy and Wonderful!

Posted by on Apr 18, 2006 in A Story, Blog | 0 comments

“How do you make sense of crazy?” Written in my journal on March 22, 2006 “These things are too wonderful.” Written in my journal on January 18, 2006 On this continuum of thought, where do you live – more on the crazy or more on the wonderful? I am finding that I live somewhere in between. Here’s crazy! It all began quite too early one morning when Ada came screaming into our bedroom around 4:00 am. She had had a bad dream and just knew that the bear from Barney Camp was in her bedroom. Later that morning, I was trying to get us all out the door to gymnastics and Maya decided that we needed to chat. I thankfully had thought about getting the car going...

“Light Hands, Guys, Light Hands!”

Posted by on Jan 11, 2006 in A Story, Blog | 0 comments

So, I take a cycling class at the YMCA. It is a great class that makes you sore in places you didn’t know you could be sore. Tina, my instructor, is a woman of boundless energy and great muscles, and she doesn’t act like what she is asking you to do on the stationary bike is easy. I appreciate that. She also always says throughout the class – “light hands, guys, light hands.” This means – turn your hands over on the handlebars, palms up. Now this could seem like an easy task, but if you are almost about to die on the bike and pedaling with your very last breath, you are clinching those handle bars tightly, desperately trying to hold yourself up so as not...
