Friday morning, April . . . No, it’s May. Wow. May what????? I wouldn’t know as my calendar on the family board is still on April. And speaking of family board, I was staring at it this morning while enjoying some eggs and biscuits that Maya made and a great cup of coffee (Starbucks French Roast). If you have read Post on thewholepeach.com, you know that our family board holds the conversation. Whatever Language card we are talking about for the week, the pictures and words get hung on the family board above our kitchen table to help us remember the conversation and keep it going throughout the week. I am a mother that needs lots of help remembering,...
Read MoreIt has been so great to hear from those of you just starting out on this parenting journey. Your passion to raise your champions is strong. I celebrate each of you! It was just yesterday for Ron and I to be young parents of babies! Maya and Ada were born in 2002; Carson was born in 2003. I speak in plural as we have no memories of just one little person in our home. So, crazy and chaos are terms I know well! But even then, in my crazy and chaos, I, like you, felt the weight of raising my champions and giving them my very best. So what can you do now? In the midst of diapers and bottles, how can you begin to share this “life to the full” with the little people...
Read MoreA team is filled athletes who share a common purpose, commitment, and goals. In the Hagan house, we are involved in many teams that involve sports – whether on the baseball diamond or on the volleyball court. A team is strong in unique areas; a team fights for one another; a team wins together; and a team goes through adversity together. We believe in the power of TEAM. I believe Father God does too. He has created us in his image. In his image, in his being, there are three: Father, Son, and Spirit. Each of these is God. I believe he calls us into a team (community) in order to strengthen, fight, and win for each other. I saw this play out this week. A close...
Read MoreWe were doing our spelling this morning along with God card #5 – Boomerang. I believe God is coming back for me. Spelling looks like this: Whatever God card we are doing that week, I read verses from the card. Maya, Ada and Carson write the verses on a piece of paper. Whatever words they misspell becomes their spelling list for the week. Presto! Spelling is done on words they actually don’t know how to spell. The words are from the Bible, pretty good place to find some words. And it is one more touch to get these verses “working” in their minds and hearts! I like to call it a “win-win.” Carson doesn’t see it that way, but that is...
Read MoreI was tucking the girls into bed last night, and somehow we got on a discussion about baptism. I think they had mentioned at church that they were going to have a baptism soon. Perhaps that is why it was on Maya’s mind. She has been contemplating it for some time now. And so the conversation goes like this. Maya: “Mom, I really need to think about this baptism thing.” Me: “Sure honey, whenever you and Father make that decision that it is time to tell the world, you go for it.” Maya: “Yea. I know.” Me: “Good night, girlies. Love you soooo much!” Maya: “Mom, you know that is why I like the God cards. Well the Me...
Read MoreWe want our children to know that Father God speaks. In all kinds of ways, he is looking for conversation and relationship. He created everything, so why wouldn’t he use all aspects of his creation to draw us to his love and attention? In this moment, he used the Bible to remind Maya that he is watching over her all the time. In this moment, Maya will never forget she has a Father in heaven speaking to her! The picture above tells the story best, but let me give you a few words too. We were studying Psalm 103. As I write, I have no memory as to why. I do love that chapter, and for some reason, we were letting it rest over us. Anyways, after we read the chapter,...
