Coming to the table this morning. Beginning this day in conversation. Saying again – I believe there is more beyond my circumstance and ability, and I need help. My circumstance has disappointed, and my ability has failed. And for those days when circumstance is “rolling,” and abilities seems to be working to my advantage, I still must grapple with the reality that this could change in an instant. Problems and Pressure are the prayers for today! I have been thinking about these words for a few days now and actually putting off the prayer. I don’t know what to say. I am knee-deep in my own problems and feeling the pressure to manage it all. That is the temptation. The enemy wants me to recite the problem, wring my hands over the problem, succumb to the problem or escape from the problem. He wants me tight, pitiful or disengaged. But . . . . We were doing our spelling this morning along with God card #5 – Boomerang. I believe God is coming back for me. Spelling looks like this: Whatever God card we are doing that week, I read verses from the card. Maya, Ada and Carson write the verses on a piece of paper. Whatever words they misspell becomes their spelling list for the week. Presto! Spelling is done on words they actually don’t know how to spell. The words are from the Bible, pretty good place to find some words. And it is one more touch to get these verses “working” in their minds and hearts! In the middle of making coffee and emptying the dishwasher, one of my many thoughts was this: What card is this week? So, after I poured my cereal and found my place at the kitchen table, I opened up the Plan and for this week of February 3-9, the topic was God card #24 – Longs for our love! Ahhh. . . This is going to be a rich conversation. So, after all three little people living in our home woke up and had cereal of their own, we made our way into some conversation. We started our God card discussion like most. Everyone got out their Bibles. We read the God card title and talked about what it meant. One of the brilliant things that has begun happening with our God card conversations is the kids have started leading our conversations. On this day, Ada chose the God card and worked out what we were going to do! You can see her plan in the picture above. It was a rich time! I also hope for your family that it is yet another reminder of the simplicity of the God cards but the depth of the conversation. For Ada to lead creates a deeper understanding for her of this truth, and a “value” that they all place on the content, because they can choose and be in charge. It is a “win-win” all around!
