Today we are praying the story of Gideon, compliments of my friend Heather! Here is part of her email to me yesterday – “I am in Judges 6 this morning for my reading. Gideon is chosen by God to fight the Midianites. When the angel of God is informing Gideon of his plans, Gideon’s first response is questions, lots of questions. ‘Where have you been, God? Why did you abandon us? Why did you choose me?’ God’s reply to Gideon: ‘Go in the strength that you have.’ It struck me that God’s preference when sending us into battle is ‘unequal to the task.’ More room for His glory. “God is our Warrior!” (God card #42 – Warrior)

This week, we are studying God card #42 – I believe God is my warrior! He fights for me! We read the verses, had some words about the verses and then went to drawing. The question I always use to get them drawing is this: “What jumps out at you from the verses? Is there a word or phrase that you remember? How would you draw what that verse is telling you?” That is usually enough to get the ball rolling or, in this case, the crayon creating. Check out the picture to see our responses. After the 3rd “get-up” and last “tuck in” last night, I was reaching deep into my bag of tricks to find the thing that would comfort Maya’s crying eyes. Ron had left for Louisiana yesterday afternoon, and Maya was overcome with sadness and fear. “I just miss Daddy. I don’t feel comfortable when he is gone. Aren’t you scared all by yourself, Mommy?
